Two persons were arrested
on charges of betting in IPL matches following a raid at at a house in
Umerkot-Raighar road on Tuesday night.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of bookie
Ramiz Hingora and nabbed the bookie and his aide Srinabas Rao. Rs 18.80 lakh
cash, a laptop, five mobile phones, a TV, diaries and calculators were seized
from the house.
Investigation is on to unravel
the involvement of others suspected to be involved in the betting racket, said Birendra Senapati IIC of Umerkote Police.
Sources said many youths
were organising betting in the Umerkote and Nabarangpur. Police suspected that
they had links with Delhi organisers and
conducted betting in crores.
