Nabarangpur Cultural festival Mondei kicks off.

The Mondei festival and Pallishree mela began here on Friday. The inaugural puja was performed at Maa Bhandara Gharani the presiding deity of this district. The rituals were performed at the temple to obtain the divine ordain (Agyanmala) of the deity.
Chief guest SC and ST development minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Chairperson of district planning committee and local MLA Manahar Randhari, Chairperson of tribal development council Motiram Nayak, Chairperson of Odisha film development corporation Muna Khan, Dabugam MLA Bhujabala Majhi, Umerkote MLA Subash Gond, Chairperson of Nabarangpur municipality, Basanti Soura, chairperson of Umerkote municipality Pinki Agrawal, Collector Rashmita Panda, present at inaugural puja and procession.

 The colourful carnival procession moved to Mahatma Gandhi Marga, passed through the main road thoroughfares of the town and reached near the festival podium at Police ground. Besides the traditional folk dance troupes’ students from various schools, colleges and members of various outfits participated in the procession. The Mondei carnival reached Mondei Rangamanch in the evening. The  symbolic Mondei Mahotshav Bima, Bhimani, were installed near the Mondei ground. Later Palishree Mela was inaugurated by the Chief Guest.
 Speaking on the occasion Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, said through Mondei, the district showcases the hidden talent and also reaches out to the people to create awareness about the different government schemes. It is an opportunity for the cottage and rural industries to display their products at a Handicrafts exhibition, Majhi said.
Chairperson of district planning committee and local MLA Manahar Randhari, spoke different developmental steps of state government to improve health, education, transportation facility of this district.
Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, concern over the centers delay in Rail project and by-pass road of the town, he criticised the center’s attitude towards this backward district.
Presiding the meeting collector and chairperson of district council of culture Rashmita Panda, said that ‘Mondei’ festival strives to proclaim the rich heritage of art, culture and tradition of Nabarangpur district.
 As many as eight cultural troups performed their dances in day one.Some of the attractions of the festival were Nepal folk dance, Chau, Gotipua Bihu and Sambalpuri dances forms. As many as 15 cultural troupes including tribal troupes were performed their dances.
 District Supply and Marketing Society (DSMS) is organising the five- day Pallishree Mela on the sidelines of the festival. This year, 200 stalls selling household articles, forest produce and food products have been set up at the mela.

National Press Day observed at Nabarangpur.



Nabarangpur:
The united journalists fraternity of district organised National press day at Soura street Kalyan Mandap here on Thursday. Sc and st development minister, Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Chairman district planning committee and MLA Monohar Randhari, Chairman of special development council, Motiram Nayak, MP Balabhadra Majhi,  Vice-chairman and district BJD President Prahalad Tripathy, Senior Advocate Jhadeswar Khadanga, senior journalist Satya Priya Dash, social worker Jagannath Mohapatra, district congress president, Muna Tripathy, freedom fighter Md.Bazi, spoke  on the occasion.

Among others Susant Behera, Banka Bihari Bissoiy, Sankar Baberta, Basant Rath, with all block level reporters present at the meeting. Six senior journalists of district with  freedom fighter Md.Bazi, felicitated on the occasion.

Ex-MLA Jagabandhu Majhi, remembered on his death anniversary

People from all walks of life today paid glowing tributes to the former MLA Jagabandhu Majhi on the seventh death anniversary here at Raighar on Sunday. 

In a meeting organised at the stadium ST and SC development minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, DPC Chairperson and Nabarangpur MLA Manohar Randhari,Assembly Estimate Committee Chairperson Sanjaya Das Burma,Umerkote MLA Subas Gond, Zilla Parisad Chairperson Bhagabati Bhatra, district BJD president Prahalad Tripathy, General Secretary Asis Ranjan Patnaik, and several party members paid rich tributes to former MLA. 

Umerkote MLS Subash Gond, thanked the people for sharing their grief to Majhi, The MLA said that he was following Majhi’s footstep to serve the people of Umerkote assembly segment with the same zeal and dedication.
The wheel chair bound MLA Majhi from Umerkote assembly seat of the district, and his PSO Prasant Patro were shot at point blank range by three assailants when he was distributing land pattas  to landless tribals at Gona village under Raighar block. In 2004 Majhi was shot in the waist by assailants, which paralysed his legs making him wheel chair bound since then.

Senior congress leader and former district congress president Narayana Patro, joined BJD at the meeting. Tributes also paid martyr PSO Prasant Patro, at Kodinga.

Journalists stage dharana in Nabarangpur.

Nabarangpur:
The scribes working in various media houses in Nabarangpur district staged dharana in front of collectorate demanding fulfillment of a 8-point charter of demands here on Friday.

 
The scribes took a bike rally from Sadasiva Park to collectorate and staged four hour dharana later meeting they submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister through district collector Rashmita Panda.
 
The demands include enactment of Journalist Protection Act, completion of identification of scribe within a stipulated time, insurance cover for scribe, medi claim,residential facility, decentralisation of accreditation process, and travel facility for journalist.

The Scribes Susant Behera, Basant Rath, Purna Chandra Mohankuda, Banka Bihari Bissoyi, Sankar Beberta, Prasant Sahu,  Kishor Patnaik, Social worker Jagannath Mohapatra, and other reporters of the district were present at the dharana.

Nabarangpur Journalists stage dharana on 22nd Sept.



Nabarangpur:
Members of the district Journalists of Nabarangpur holds a preparatory meeting at Trupti Conference hall here on Sunday to stage dharana in front of collectorate on September 22nd
It was decided that a rally of all journalists of the district will start from Sadasiva Tripathy park, to collectorate  submit memorandum to chief minister and stage dharana in front of collectorate.

The demands include enactment of Journalist Protection Act, completion of identification of scribe within a stipulated time, insurance cover for scribe, medi claim, pension facility after retirement, residential facility, decentralisation of accreditation process, and travel facility for journalist.
Senior Journalist Purna Chandra Mohankuda, presided the meeting while reporters Banka Bihari Bissoyi, Susant Behera, Sankar Beberta, Basant Rath, Kishor Patnaik, Social worker Jagannath Mohapatra, and other reporters were present at the meeting.
