Killer potholes claim life of teenage girl in Nabarangpur.

In a shocking incident of death due to negligence by National Highway authorities, a 11-year-girl was crushed to death on Tuesday.  An angry mob blocked the National Highway No. 26 riddled with potholes and water logging that passes through the town.  Following the accident a student of class VI was killed near the Trivani traffic post angry mob pelted stones on police as well as on Truck, police started lathi charge to disperse the mob. Several persons including a Journalist injured in the police excess.  

Tension prevailed in the Trivani junction area and bus stand market complex for eight hours as the shop were forced to shut down. Several eye witnesses protested in front of the

police, condemning her death and demanding more safety on the roads for children and people. Meanwhile town police registered a case arrested the driver and seized the truck.  Two platoons Police were deployed to prevent all incidents said inspector of town police station Ramesh Chandra Bissoyi.  

The victim was identified as Dipti mayee Behera,  a student of class VI of girls high school. She was on her way to school when the truck bearing no CG-04JC 3747 hit bicycle and front tyre ran over her head she died at the spot Mr.Bissoyi said.

According to eye witnesses shop keepers she was just crossing the traffic post in which a traffic constable on duty when the truck hit her.  “I heard a girl cry out and when I stepped out of my shop, I saw the truck’s front wheel over the head of a child, said. The accident had taken place because of a lack of space by the sides of the traffic post and there were potholes which is dangerous for motorists and cyclists. The entire main road of Nabarangpur town is riddled with potholes and water logging. Why the National Highway authority not taking any step to repair the roads” asks a resident Lakhya Panda. Recently by insisting a case  Collector Yamini Sarangi, directed the National Highway authority to fill potholes and repair the main road but in vain.

ULB polls : 117 candidates, in Nabarangpur district.

After withdraw of nominations from the urban local body (ULB) polls for Nabarangpur Municipality as many as 68 candidates are in the fray for 16 words. Interestingly in ward no 17 two main political parties INC and BJP candidates withdrew their nominations Sudhir Kumar Mohapatra, (BJD) uncontested and pulled out of the election process.

Among the political parties BJD has fielded it candidates in all 17 wards, INC in 16 and BJP has fielded its candidates only in 10 wards while 25 independent candidates are in the fray.

Similarly, for 14 wards under Umerkote  NAC, 49 candidates filed their papers. Three major political parties BJD, INC and BJP candidates are contesting in all the   14 wards. While only seven independent candidates are in the fray.

School Head Master arrested for molesting student at Dabugam.

The headmaster of Karagam School in Nabarangpur district, who was arrested for allegedly molesting and sexually assaulting a class VIII student and charged under Section 354 (a) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 produced in court on Saturday.

According to police   father of a class VIII tribal student of Karagam school, under Dabugam block complained to the police on Friday that the accused headmaster Kailash Chandra Behera, regularly  ask her to go to his bed room to sweep, she followed his instructions and went to his room, soon Kailash Behera reportedly appeared there and embraced the girl.

He reportedly molested her and assaulted her sexually.  He “threatened that if she discloses to anybody he will be dismissed her from the hostel” when the act of the teacher unceasingly the girl summoned up courage left to her village informed her ordeal to her  parents who promptly filed a police complaint on August 28th with the

Dabugam police station.

Illegal abortion of tribal minor girl Doctor & two held at Nabarangpur.

A local retired doctor was arrested for allegedly aborting a seven-month-old foetus  of an unmarried tribal minor girl of Nandahandi, SDPO UC Nayak, said on Saturday.

The main accused Aswani Kumar Sarangi, of Nandahandi under Nabarangpur police limit who is the lover of the tribal minor girl.  In the pretext of to marry her kept illegitimate relation and when the girl was pregnant of about seven months deceived pregnant at Umerkote clinic of Dr.S.N Dash, (O & G).  Following the termination of pregnancy, the girl and her parents allegedly murder in the death of the seven-month-old foetus at their clinic.

A case has been lodged at town police station vide case No 226/13 against the doctor and two others and in the connection police arrested Aswani and aided friend Kanhu Charan Dash, seized a indigo car connected in the case forwarded to the court of SDJM on 29th.

Police arrested Dr S N Dash, from Umerkote residence who ran a private maternity clinic at Umerkote, for allegedly illegal abortion of a 14-year-old unmarried girl here on Saturday, forwarded to court.
