The three days all Odisha open chess championship-2011 concluded with an award ceremony and celebration at Mission shakti hall here on Sunday.
In the prize ceremony Chief guest, Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Minister, IT, Fishery, ARD &ST Dev, said that for the first time the open chess tournament was organized in the tribal district, he thanked to the organizer the district athletic association and collector for organizing such a event.
Sudhir Kumar Behera, of Kalahandi, emerged champion, while Dasharathi Sahoo, of Nayagarh, and Rabindra Kumar Ojha, of Cuttack ranked as second and third. Total 16 prizes and five category prizes with total Rs.25,000 Cash distributed to the winners.
In the closing ceremony Collector,Sibabrata Dash, MLA, Monahar Randhari, DAA, Secretary, Prahalad Tripathy, chief arbiter, Suresh Chandra Sahoo,arbiter, Durga Prasad Mohapatra, spoke on the occasion.
The tournament was organized by district athletic association, in collaboration with district administration, under the aegis of all Odisha chess association. Altogether 34 participants including rated, from 12 districts participated in the tournament.
