For the first time an state level open Chess championship tournament inaugurated at the Mission shakti hall here on Friday. Speaking to the occasion Collector,Sibabrata Dash said that the main objective of the tournament is to give a platform to the district chess players to play with the grand masters to help them raise their ratings and bring them to limelight.
DAA,Secretary, Prahalad Tripathy, said that around 40 players including grand masters and international masters from 12 districts are expected to participate in the tournament.
at the inaugural meeting SP,Niti Sekhar, District Sports Officer, Rajkishor Jena, ADM,Narendra Pradhan, Nabarangpur MLA,Manohar Randhari, District Athletic association secretary, Prahalad Tripathy, were spoke.
The tournament is organized by the district athelatic association, in collaboration with district administration under the aegis of all Odisha chess association.
State arbiter will conduct the event alongwith professional team, the tournament would be held here from 15th to 17th July.
