Nabarangpur: BASANT RATH,
A youth was killed in a truck accident at Umerkote in
Nabarangpur district today. The deceased was identified as Gopinath Pandey (22)
of Gulipatana.
The accident took place when the victim going towards DNK
colony on his bike while overtaking a
speed truck near Gulipatna, loss balance fell down truck ran over the body of youth who died on spot.
Tension ran high in the area after irate locals staged
road blockade by burning tyres demanding Rs 10 lakh compensation for the family
members of the deceased.
Following information, a
team of police with IIC Umerkote Birendra Senapati, and local tahasildar, Turani
Sahu, rushed to the spot and pacified the people and assured compensation to
the family of the deceased.
