Five Anganwadi workers and two supervisors were on Friday suspended by Nabarangpur district Collector Sibabrata Dash for long absenteeism and negligence in duty at their Anganwadi centres.
Anganwadi worker Katharin Garada of Bejuguda under Tentulikhunti block, Sabitri Mishra of Tumbarla-I under Papadahandi block, Kunti Nayak of Hirli, Jema Bhatra of Mahuli, Manjari Harijan of Sanatemera under Jharigam block and supervisor of Papadahandi and Manjori Ghos of Santemera were suspended.
The Collector also sent show-cause notices to S Geeta, CDPO, Papadahandi, and Anganwadi Worker of Tumberla-II, Susama Nayak, CDPO, Nandahandi, Rosalin Kerkata, Supervisor Meri Margrate Kulu and Anganwadi Workers of Sana Daibhata Kumudini Kashyap and Maladei Harijan of Parja Minigudi.
During the inspection of Anganwadi centres, the DPMU detected irregularities in the above centres and also found substandard quality foods served to schoolchildren and most of the centres being closed for long days.
