Fertilizer Monitoring Meeting held at Nabarangpur

Committee formed to check Monitoring & black marketing.

A meeting on the supply and distribution of fertilizer during kharif 2011-12 in the district was held at the Ashok Meheta conference hall, on Tuesday. Collector, Sibabrata Dash, presided over the meeting said this year to check the black marketing of fertilizers, block level, and district level monitoring committee will be formed, and they will look into the requirement of the farmers and check black marketing of fertilizers. For the first time in the district a vigilance committee formed to check monitoring and black marketing of fertilizers. At the district committee there will be MP, Zilla Parisad President, MLAs, director, Agriculture Technology Management Agency, (ATMA) and selected farmers are the members, DSP, DDA, and DAO. Similarly at the block level, Block Chairman’s,Zila Parisad Members, Samit Members, and ATMA mebers, along with the agricultural officials, are the committee members to check the black marketing of fertilizers.
The district administration has set a cultivation target of 2 lakh hectares during the kharif season, Deputy director of Agriculture, Bimbadhar Sahu, has said. At the meeting he said different steps were being taken to ensure adequate supply of seeds and fertilizers to farmers in the region.
There was a demand for 63,100 tonnes of chemical fertilizer, including 36,300 tonnes of urea,10000 tonnes of DAP, 10,000 tonnes of MoP; and 7,100 tonnes of complex fertilizer during the kharif season. There are 542 retailers for the district in which 56, for Nabarangpur Block, 12, Nandahandi, 13 Tentulikhunti block, under the DAO, Nabarangpur. 77 retailers for Papadahandi block, 40, for Kosagumuda, 30 for Dabugam, block, under DAO, Papadahandi, similarly, 149 retailers at Umerkote, 53, for Jharigam, 92, for Raighar, and 2, for Chandahandi block.
