Raising Ceremony of 13 Odisha Battalion NCC Held

The 13 Odisha Battalion of the National Cadet Corps was raised at Nabarangpur on Saturday. The unit is an Army Wing,infantry Battalion of NCC and will consist of 2000 boy cadets including 800 Senior divison (College), and 1200 junior divison (School) cadets. The unit will provide NCC coverage to Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Rayagada districts.

The battalion was raised under the command of Lt Col GFA Dagamarose and the first Subedar Major of the Battalion is Sub Maj Raj Kumar Singh. The raising ceremony was presided over by Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Minister IT,Fisheries,ARD,&SC/ST, in presence of Commodore L K Agrawala, Deputy Director General Odisha, NCC directorate. The function commenced with flag hoisting, singing of the NCC anthem and later unveiling of stone and cutting ribbon of the NCC Bhawan, near Nabarangpur college hostel.


Minister Mr.Majhi, expressed his pleasure and thanks for selecting, the tribal and rural districts district from backward areas with the opportunity of NCC grooming. The battalion will develop Comradeship, Discipline, Leadership, Secular Outlook, Spirit of Adventure and Ideals of Selfless Service amongst the youth, and Provide a Suitable Environment to Motivate the Youth to Take Up a Career in the Armed Forces. More youths of Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Kalahandi district will be benefited.

Commodore, L K Agrawala, said that The NCC was raised in 1948 by an act of parliament and cadets who are regular students of recognized schools and colleges from ages 13 to 27 can be enrolled into the NCC. There are 17 directorates covoring the country. Odisha directorate has three groups Sambalpur, Cuttack and Berhampur. NCC has 12 lakh cadets over 3years.

Among Other distinguished guests Collector, Sibabrata Dash, Narendra Pradhan, ADM, Rashimi Ranjan Sahu, PA ITDA., Group Commander NCC group Berhampur, Group Captain P Kashiva , Caption Tripathi Panda, and cadets were present.
