Nabarangpur tribals froth at "fake ST certificates "



Nearly 10,000 tribals raising a banner of protest under a Janajati surakhya Mancha,(JSM) took out a rally in Nabarangpur on Wednesday in support of their various demands including one-action against people fraudulently taking advantage of fake ST certificates.

Women and youths brandishing axe, lathis and their traditional weapon took out the rally from Chamuriaguda to Collectorate carrying posters and banners and submitted charter of demands to Sub-Collector, Suman Behera.

The JSM, express their dissatisfaction over non-tribal persons fraudulently obtaining the Schedule Tribe certificates to take advantage of the quota system. The tribal body demanded that authorities should stop issuing of fake certificates to persons not belonging to ST category.

After obtaining ST certificates, these people are landing government jobs or getting admission in educational institution or in elective posts, the tribals alleged, demanding that they should be punished.

They also demanded for speedy restoration of their rights on land and government to give back the land taken away from the tribal people,  and banning sale of country liquor  and illegal manufacturing units of country liquor (Vati) operating at villages in the tribal areas said.
