Workshop to discuss Because I'm a Girl held at Nabarangpur.


A Workshop on "Because I am a Girl" (BIAAG) was held at Zilla Parisad Conference hall, here on Tuesday with association of AVA and CYSD organisations.  ZP president Motiram Nayak, was the chief guest while CDMO, Nanda Kishor Mishra, APD DRDA, Gopinath Sarka, Maa Ghara, President Kadambini Tripathy,  Journalist, Basant Rath,  along with CYSD Conveners Mamata Tripathi, and Kaqlpana Mohapatra, spoke on the gender inequality and promotion of girls rights. Plan's Because I Am A Girl initiative is a social movement designed to unleash the power of girls and women to claim a brighter future for girls.

Convener NOWO, Pramila swain, said in many countries, discrimination between boys and girls still happens. Parents and society focus more on boys than girls. However, girls are important factor for social and economic development because they will play a big part in their families. So today, we need to focus on the rights of girls. Girls need to be empowered to live, to manage their finances and prove their role in society," she added.

BIAAG is a global initiative of Plan to promote girls' rights and lift them out of poverty. It is geared towards equipping, enabling and engaging girls of all ages to acquire the assets, skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in life. Girls enroll and complete quality primary and secondary education in a safe and supportive community environment and acquire the skills they need to access decent economic opportunities... Students of GNM, MAA Ghara, NGO members  participated in the workshop.
