Ruling Biju Janata dal, took to the streets protesting against hike in petrol prices and demanded immediate roll back. The BJD activists organized rallies and demonstration, blocked the NH-201, in Nabarangpur town area here shouting slogans against the Centre.
Claiming that the price of petrol had been raised nine times during the last nine months, the protesters said it would put enormous financial burden on common people.
Monohar Randhari, MLA, critisised the price hike and said Congress had betroyed the people. The hike will result in rise in prices of essential commodities.The UPA government must announce a subsidy and take steps to control prices of petroleum products, he demanded.
